St John Ambulance is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing Training for Life courses to volunteers as well as first aid services at public events. The organization works out of its office attached to the Corwnall Electric Building on Syndey St, and has been providing services to the community since 1940.
Whether you’re in an emergency situation or providing everyday care, you’ll gain confidence and respect through your ability to help others. St John First Aid, CPR and Health Promotion Courses are built on the following:
- Quality: Approved by a national panel of health care professionals, and updated with the latest innovations in techniques & procedures
- Expertise: A nation-wide network of superior instructors, nationally recognized certification, with over 110 years of experience
- Safety-orientation: Reinforces safety awareness, develops a safer lifestyle, and reduces injuries by as much as 30%
- Flexibility: Programs customized to your needs
Training For Life Courses
The following Training For Life courses are offered by St John Ambulance. These courses are offered at our location on Sydney St, and are also available on site.
- Babysitting Program
- CPR C
- CPR Recertification Level C
- Standard First Aid CPR Level C
- Standard First Aid CPR Level A
- Standard First Aid Renewal
- WHIMIS
- AED (Automated External Defibrillation)
- Pet Therapy Dogs
- Medical First Responder
- Automated External Defibrillation
- French Programs Available

Community Services
Community Services: St. John Ambulance is a volunteer organization. Its members are required to provide 100 hours per year. As such, it depends upon charitable contributions. The organization has provided first aid services at a number of public events including:
- Cornwall Motor Speedway
- Glengarry Highland Games
- Maxville & Avonmore Fairs
- Raisin River Canoe Race
- Special Olympics
- Cornwall Lift Off
Volunteers: We are currently seeking volunteers. If you have First Aid and CPR training and would like to put these skills to use, then join as a volunteer today. If you find the First Aid unappealing, then you may like to sit on our Board of Directors as a volunteer instead. You must be 18 years of age to join.
