The Privacy of the personal information of our clients is an important principle to Sci-Tech Consulting. We are committed to collecting, using and disclosing personal information responsibly and only to the extent necessary for the services we provide. We also try to be open and transparent as to how we handle personal information. This document describes our privacy policies.
Personal information is information that can identify an individual. This includes information that relates to their home address or home telephone number. Personal information is to be contrasted with business information such as the business address and telephone number. However, with the rise of cottage industries and home-based businesses, the distinction can often be blurred.
Sci-Tech Consulting is a sole proprietorship that provides web design/data integration, and hosting services. The marketing and bookkeeping of this business has been contracted out to one individual. Access to personal information is restricted to the owner and the marketing liaison.
Sci-Tech Consulting collects business and personal information for the following purposes:
We will attempt to get your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of this information in writing or verbally as we continue to update our Directory and our records for 2012.
We understand the importance of protecting personal information. For that reason we have taken the following steps.
We keep our client files until such time as it appears we will not be contacting them again, or a client personally request that the files be removed.
We destroy paper files containing personal information by shredding. We destroy electronic information by deleting it and, when the hardware is discarded, we ensure that the hard drive is physically destroyed.
Our clients are entitled to access the personal information held by us concerning them.
You can access the personal information you provided us by sending us a written request for such information. We will generally respond to your request within thirty (30) days, unless for reasons beyond our control, a longer response time is necessary, in which case you will be advised accordingly. While our response will generally be provided at no cost, you will be informed in advance of any charges that apply in connection with the information request. Charges may relate to the transcription, reproduction or transmission of personal information held by us.
