What is Personal Information?

Personal information is information that can identify an individual. This includes information that relates to their home address or home telephone number. Personal information is to be contrasted with business information such as the business address and telephone number. However, with the rise of cottage industries and home-based businesses, the distinction can often be blurred.

  • To track website usage statistics to offer the best experience to visitors

We will attempt to get your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of this information in writing or verbally as we continue to update our Directory and our records for 2012.

Protecting Personal Information

We understand the importance of protecting personal information. For that reason we have taken the following steps.

  • Paper information is secured in a locked area
  • Electronic information is secured with a password
  • The Marketing Liaison is trained to collect, use and disclose personal information only as necessary to fulfil his duties in accordance with this privacy policy.
  • External consultants with access to personal information must enter into a privacy agreement with us.
  • Personal user information is never stored, unless submitted manually via an online form by the visitor to our website

We keep our client files until such time as it appears we will not be contacting them again, or a client personally request that the files be removed.

We destroy paper files containing personal information by shredding. We destroy electronic information by deleting it and, when the hardware is discarded, we ensure that the hard drive is physically destroyed.

Our clients are entitled to access the personal information held by us concerning them.
